+17W 5D 湖水地方 Lake district

一週間のホリデーから戻った。湖水地方は片道車で5時間。途中で何度かアラタに授乳したりで、10時間ぐらいかけて行った。Pine Lakeというコテージに泊まる。コットを一週間7ポンド(1400円)で借りる。いつもと違った部屋でもアラタはいつも通りで安心。ただ、室温が違ったりするので、アラタが寒くないかなあと、私の方が心配して疲れた。その上、高速走行時にアラタがおなかをすかせて泣き出してもすぐには止まれない。これは、かなりのストレスだった。アラタは、初めて見たアヒルの親子にジーっと見入ったり、一気に芽を吹いた新緑の木々の枝が風になびいているのを一生懸命見ていた。風邪はよくなったが、どうやら4ヶ月の成長期の真っ只中には変わりなく、夜中に3回ぐらい起き続けている。

Came back from Lake District. It takes 5 hours by car normally but we had to stop to feed Arata from time to time and it took about 10 hours one way. We stayed at Pine Lake cottage. Rented a cot for 7 pounds per week. Arata slept well even in a different cot or room, which is good. It was much tougher for me to sleep as I was worried if the room temperature was too low etc. Travelling by car for long hours was also quite stressful for me because we can not stop immediately when Arata starts to cry for milk! During holiday, Arata had lots of new experiences. He was really amazed by a duck family, especially small ducklings? Arata also spent hours watching leaves on trees moving! His cold has been better but the 4 month growth spurt hasn't finished yet. He still wakes up 3 times a night for feeding.

+16W 5D 初めての家族旅行 Arata's first family holiday

今日から一週間、NZのおばあちゃん、おばあちゃんの友達のJackie、そしてパパ、ママ、アラタで湖水地方に行ってきます。アラタの初ホリデー。

We are setting off to the Lake District with Nana and her friend Jackie. It's Arata's first holiday!

+16W 4D 社交 Socialisation

ほとんど毎日のように、ベイビーグループやママ友とのお茶などに参加している。一番の目的は私自身の精神衛生維持。いろいろな人に会って話しをするのは気分転換になるし、最近特に起きている時間が長くなったアラタをずっと1人で相手をするのはつらい。その点、おしゃべりをしながらだとあまり気にならないし、アラタにとっても、他の子供に囲まれた社交的な時間を過ごすことはいいことだろう。同じ月齢ぐらいの赤ちゃんを並べて横にしておくだけでも、微笑みかけたり、赤ちゃん言葉を発したり、触ってみたり・・・。4歳ぐらいの女の子がいれば、一生懸命アラタの面倒を見てくれる。昼寝を妨害されたり、おもちゃを押し付けられて泣いたりもりもするけど、兄弟がいたらこんな環境は普通だし、だから、兄弟がまだいないアラタにとっては、こんな時間がとても大切。

今日も午後からジョンオーウエルスポーツセンターのカフェで近所のママ達と5時間近くおしゃべり。昨日は、インターネットの掲示板で知り合ったみちこさんの家に遊びに行った。写真は、彼女の赤ちゃん、ポピーちゃんと。アラタが10日程おにいちゃん。2人を並べたら腕を組んだのがかわいい！アラタは、ポピーちゃんのプレイジムのおもちゃを、手だけではなく足まで使って揺らしてみたり、挙句の果ては、おもちゃのぶら下がっているアーチを両足でなぎ倒しては得意そうにして、男の子らしさを発揮していた。

I join baby groups or chatting over coffee with other mums nearly every day. The main purpose is to get rid of the pressure of looking after baby all day alone. It's quite good to meet other mums to talk rather than staying at home. Arata has started to be awake much longer now and it's easier for me to look after him while talking to somebody else as my mind can be a bit off and relaxed. It's also good for Arata as he can learn how to socialise with others. When we simply put 2 babies lying side by side, they smile, talk and touch each other. If there is a bit older child, she tries to look after Arata. Often Arata's nap is distracted or he is forced to play against his will. But this is quite normal environment if Arata has a brother or sister, and that's why, it is precious little time for Arata as well.

We went to the cafe at Wapping John Orwell Sport Centre and spent about 5 hours this afternoon. Yesterday, Arata and I met Michiko and her daughter Poppy who I got to know on the internet. The photo is Arata and Poppy. She is only 10 days younger than Arata. When putting them together for a photo session, they put their arms together. It was so natural and cute. Well, when Arata was using her play gym, he not only punched the toys with his hands but also kicked them with his feet. He then proudly pushed down the arch where toys are hanging with his both feet! He showed how strong a baby boy Arata is!

+16W 3D おしゃべり赤ちゃん Chatty baby

昨日も3回授乳のため起こされて、くたくただったが、今朝はどうにかベイビーマッサージに行った。最近アラタもマッサージになれてきたようで、オシッコをすることもなく、私の目をみてリラックスしている。写真はマッサージに来ているママと赤ちゃん。

アラタは最近、非常におしゃべりだ。朝目覚めた時は特に調子がよく、とどまることなく赤ちゃん語を連発している。この間なんかは、夜中におきて、おしゃべりし始めた。これは、大変と思い、無理やりおっぱいを飲ませて寝かせることに成功したが、アラタ、誰に似たのかなあ・・・。

I had to feed him 3 times last night again. I was quite tired this morning but managed to go to the baby massage class. Arata seems to have got used to it, he enjoyed massage looking at my eyes, without agitating or peeing! One of the mums took this photo at the beginning of session.

Arata is really chatty recently. Especially just after waking up in the morning, he can not stop talking to me or whoever, whatever. It's quite cute to see him taking but when he started to talk in the middle of night a few days ago, I squeezed my nipple into his mouth to stop him going on and on! Well, where is this coming from?

+16W 2D 成長期？Growth spurt?

風邪のせいかと思っていたがそうではないようだ。アラタ今、4ヶ月目のGrowth Spurt、成長期、のようで、夜もいつも以上に頻繁に起きて授乳しなければならないから、こっちはへとへと。夜中に起こされるのって、2回までが限度。それ以上になると、かなり次の日がつらい。日本で買ってもらったPigeonの歯固めが届いた。大きさも、アラタが握るのにはちょうどよい。

Arata must be in his 4th month growth spurt. He wakes up more than usual, 4 or 5 times, at night. Being waken up twice is the limit. If it is more than that, I feel really tired. The teething ring I ordered from Japan has arrived. The grip is not too big and Arata can hold it easily.

+16W 0D ノーズドロップ Saline Nose Drop

まだ鼻水、咳があるため、予防接種（5種混合プラス1の第3回目）の予約をキャンセルした。ベイビークリニックで体重を測ってもらうと6.44Kg。一安心。ここ数日、夜中に2時間おきに起きるのだが、風邪のせいでいっぺんにミルクを飲む気がしなく、すぐお腹が空くからだろうと、ヘルスビジター。Teethingで夜中に起きる場合は、ギャーッと泣いてまたすぐ眠りに落ちるような泣き方になるそうだ。セーラインノーズドロップ（くしゃみを引き起こす）を授乳30分前に鼻に一滴ずつ落とすと、授乳中の呼吸が楽になるので買った。Calpolを飲ませたり、授乳の間に湯冷ましをあげてお腹を少し空かして、次の授乳できちんと飲むようにしてみるのもいいかもしれないと言われた。写真はニュージーランドのおばあちゃんとアラタ。

Arata still has some cough and runny nose and I decided to cancel the immunisation jab today. He weighed 6.44Kg. Not bad. He's woken up every 2 hours during night in the last couple of days. A health visitor said it's probably because he doesn't feel like feeding lots at one time as he has a cold, which end up getting him hungry often. If he wakes up from teething, the cry may be different, according to her. Teething baby cries sharp but soon goes back to sleep. I bought a Saline Nose Drop, which eases blocked nose and causes sneeze. Give one drop 30 minutes before feeding to clear the nose. The health visitor also suggested giving Arata cooled down boiled water in between 2 feeds. This will help him to feed more properly in the second feed. This photo is Arata with Kiwi Nana.

+15W 6D ロンドンマラソン London Marathon

今日は快晴。第25回ロンドンマラソン。フラット裏のHighwayがコースなので、朝から中継のヘリコプターの音。沿道には観戦客。史上最高の3万5千人が走ったそうだ。写真はドックランドから折り返してきた男子の先頭グループとアラタ。この後、マラソンコース脇を歩いてCanary WharfのRoyal Chinaへ。久しぶりに点心にありつけた。

Beautiful weather. It's the 25th London Marathon today. The Highway, just behind our flat, is a part of the course. We could hear helicopters hovering above. Spectators were along side the road. There were 35000 runners today. This is the record number of participants. Jason's camera caught Arata with the men's top group, who had been just coming back from Docklands. We later walked to Canary Wharf along the loads of fun runners and had Dim Sum at Royal China.

+15W 5D 便秘? Constipation?

ここ3日ほど便秘していたアラタ。今日は大きいぷーを2回した。フォーミュラは食物なので、フォーミュラで育てられている赤ちゃんの便秘は珍しいことではないらしい。それでも、一週間ぐらいの便秘は心配することないそうだ。アラタは生後2ヶ月ぐらいまではとにかく超快便で、1日3回ぐらいウンチをしていた。最近は朝に大きいのを1回するというパターンになっていた。だから3日も出ないなんて本当に生まれて始めての事だったのでちょっと心配してしまった。最近は1回が大量で、漏れたりもするので、外出時にやられたくないなあとひやひやしていて、お風呂でリラックスしてやられたらと、お風呂当番をJasonに押し付けようとしていた私だ。今日は天気もよく、Jason、JasonママとLodon BridgeのBoroughマーケットに行ったアラタだが、相変わらず散歩中はずっと寝ていたそうだ。私はTurks Headのランチから参加。しばし、自分の時間を楽しんだ。

Arata didn't poo for 3 days. He has done 2 big ones today. Babies brought up with formula milk are more prone to get constipation as formula is a type of 'food'. Still, a week constipation is nothing to worry. Arata's digesting system has been working very well and he did poo at least 3 times a day in the first 2 months. He has started to poo once a day in the morning since. So I was feeling really odd that he hadn't pooed for 3 days. The amount of poo is bigger now and sometimes it even leaks from his nappy. In the last few days, I was too much worried when he was going to poo and even I tried to force Jason to give Arata a bath as I thought he may poo when he was relaxed in the bath. Today the weather was nice. Arata went to the Borough market at London Bridge with Jason and Jason's mum. As usual, he was sleeping all the way. I enjoyed a precious little time for myself at home first, and only joined them from lunch at Turks Head.

+15W 4D 歯がため Teething ring

アラタのティージング（Teething　日本語でなんだ？）が始まった。歯が生える前の痛みやかゆみのため、口にものを入れるようになった。自分のこぶしだけではなく、以前は友達だったさるのラトルも入れちゃうので、おまけでもらったボンジェラ（口内炎の薬で有名な会社だけど、Teethingを緩和する薬も販売している）の歯固めを握らしてみた。ちょっと大きめだが、かみかみしている様子。母にピジョンの歯固め

Arata's teething seems to have started. He put not only his fist but also his long time friend, monkey rattle, into his mouth. We tried giving him a teething ring, which we got as a give-away from Bonjela. It is a bit too big for Arata's hand but he is enjoying playing with it. My mum will send us

+15W 3D 国際色豊かなワピングというところ Very international Wapping

今日はJasonママも一緒にベイビーマッサージに行った。約8組の親子が来ていた。私達の住んでいるワピングというエリアは本当にインターナショナルだ。こういった集まりに行って会うお母さんは、日本人、韓国人、バングラディッシュ人、トルコ人、ドイツ人、イタリア人、クロアチア人、フランス人・・・・。英国人をみつけるほうが難しい。アラタは最近バウンサーのおもちゃを足で蹴るのが得意になって来た。

Jason's mum also went to a baby massage group together. There were about 8 mums and babies. I am always amazed how international Wapping is. We have Japanese, Korean, Bangladeshi, Turkish today. It's rather difficult to find pure British babies here. Arata is now really good at kicking toys on his bouncer.

+15W 2D ベイビーマッサージケーススタディ Baby massage case study

今日はベイビーマッサージを勉強しているばばぞのさんがケーススタディのためにうちに来た。あずささんとアメリちゃんも一緒に、彼女の指導でマッサージをした。近所のベイビーマッサージグループでやるのよりもう少し詳細なマッサージを、オーガニックのサンフラワーオイルでする。アラタは気持ちよかったのか、午後しばらく熟睡していた。さて、ニュージーランドから32時間かけて、Jasonのお母さんが到着した。

Babazono san came round to do some case study on baby massage. She is a student studying baby massage and yoga. Azusa and I gave massage to our babies following her instructions. Used organic sun flower oil. It must have been nice because Arata had a very long good nap in the afternoon. Jason's mum has arrived from New Zealand. It took 32 hours for her to get here!

+15W 1D ベイビーヨガ Baby Yoga

今日はWapping Women's Centreでやっているベイビーヨガに行った。お母さん達のウォームアップ、赤ちゃんのヨガ、赤ちゃんと一緒にエクササイズで約1時間。歌を歌いながら赤ちゃんヨガをしたり、とても楽しかった。ベイビーマッサージと違って裸にしないのでおしっこをひっかけられる心配がなく、ちょっと気が楽。今日は全部で8組ぐらいの親子が来ていたが、ロンドンではベイビーマッサージもそうだし、こういう集まりは全て無料なので嬉しい。写真はアメリカからやっと届いたBoppyの上のアラタ。

We went to baby yoga at Wapping Women's Centre. Mothers' warm-up, baby yoga and baby & mum's interactive exercise for one hour. We often sing songs to give baby massage. There were about 8 mums and babies today. This group was really fun! Unlike baby massage, at which we have to undress babies, I don't have to worry about Arata pee. In London, these meetings are all free. In this photo, Arata was on a boppy, which I ordered from US 3.5 months ago and just arrived.

+15W 0D 鼻水取り器 Runny nose vacuum

アラタの風邪。ちょっと熱っぽく、鼻が詰まって息苦しそうだったり、ミルクを飲む量が減ったが、起きている時は元気に遊んでいるので心配はないだろう。日本のインターネットサイトで買った2種類の鼻水取り器が大活躍。スポイト状のは、先が細いため鼻の奥に突き刺さりそうで怖い。長いチューブが二つついているタイプは、一本のチューブ（先が太くなっているので奥まで入らないデザイン）を赤ちゃんの鼻に入れて、もう一つを大人が口にくわえて吸うので、圧力の調整ができ、赤ちゃんが動き回ってもコントロールし易く便利。

ベイビークリニック。体重は6.25Kgで、増加率が伸び悩み。風邪のせいもあるだろう。熱っぽかったらCalpolを飲ませて、薄着にさせるようにと、ヘルスビジターさんからの指示。頬や口の周りが乾燥、湿疹気味なのは市販のワセリンを塗っておけばいいそうだ。よだれが多くなってきたのは歯が生え始める兆候。また、湯冷ましや薄めたジュースなど、暑い時にでも少しずつ始めてみてもいいそうだ。

Arata's cold. He is still a bit feverish and sometimes blocked nose seems to be terrible. He does not feed as much milk as usual. But when he is awake, he is playing happily and we don't worry much. The running nose vacuum kits I bought from a Japanese internet site are very good help. I bought 2 different types of vacuums. One is syringe type. We can find the similar ones in England. This is a bit difficult to use because the top that is to put into baby's nose is narrow and it may get deep inside by mistake. The other one with 2 tubes works better. Put one tube with round shaped end to baby's nose, the round shape prevents it get deeper, and suck in air putting the other tube to our mouth. We have much control over the air pressure and baby's sudden movements.

We went to the baby clinic. Arata weighed 6.25Kg. His weight gain curve has quite slowed down. Probably cold is one of the reasons. A health visitor advised me to give Arata half a spoonful Calpol if he is too feverish to sleep etc. Arata's cheeks and around the mouth has been a bit dry with some rashes because he produces more saliva now. She told me to apply Vaseline, which is ok if baby licks. Having lot of saliva is a sign of teething. We can also start giving him a bit of dilated fruit juice or water if we want.

+14W 6D アラタが風邪引いた Arata has cought a cold

最近アラタは私のシャツをつかんだり、私のあいている方の胸をたたきながらおっぱいを飲む。周りの雑音も気になるようになって来たらしく、私の声に気を取られて飲むのを止めちゃったりもするから要注意だ。たまに、途中でふと顔を上げて休憩しながら、私を見つけて、にこにこ笑ったりするのはとてもかわいい。

さて、今朝からとうとうアラタも風邪をひいてしまった。鼻水、咳、そして微熱。私は昼間外出していたが、Jasonはアラタに湯冷ましを飲ませてみたらしい。アラタがミルク以外飲んだのは、予防接種後の薬Calpol以外初めて。夕方にはかなり元気になっていた。私はKissableでヘアカットをしたあと、ナチュラルクリニックで整体と指圧を受けた。50分で40ポンド。産後の体のゆがみ、腰痛肩こりなどをほぐしてもらえてリフレッシュ。

Arata has started to grab my shirt or tap my breast while being fed. He is often distrusted by noises and stops feeding as well. Sometimes, he just releases his mouth from my breast for a while to rest. When he looks up, he finds me and smiles. It's really cute.

Well, Arata has developed cold since early this morning. Runny nose, coughs and slight temperature. I was out this afternoon by myself and Jason gave him his first water from a bottle. Arata was much better by early evening. I went to Kissable for hair cut and Natural Clinic for Shiatsu massage for after birth. It was so refreshing!!

+14W 5D フラットハンティング 続き Flat hunting continued...

今日は再びNew Malden、そしてWimbledonへ行った。New Maldenだと予算よりだいぶ低い金額で庭付きの家が借りられる。韓国人街があるから、韓国レストランがたくさんあるのと、韓国や日本の食材が簡単に手に入るのは魅力。だけど、やっぱりWimbledonの方が素敵よね～。Wimbledonでは2件物件を見たが、いまいち。駅の近くのWimbledon Common側の手ごろな物件は古いフラットが多い。今日は車の中で2回授乳するはめになった。

We went to New Malden and Wimbledon for flat hunting. We could even rent a house in much lower budget in New Malden. It's 'Korean town', which is a big advantage for me. But I still prefer Wimbledon or Richmond. We viewed 2 flats in Wimbledon. Most of the affordable flats near Wimbledon Common are quite old.... We are rather looking for modern one. Very difficult... I had to feed Arata twice in a car.

+14W 4D つかの間の休息 A brief break

きょうもまたかおりさん、あずささんとTurks Headでお茶をした。昨日から冬に逆戻りしたような寒さだったので、真冬用の頭から足まですっぽりかぶるもこもこジャケットを着せてスリングで行った。Turks Headは何回も行っているのでウエイトレスさんとも顔見知りで、今日もアラタを抱っこしてしばらくあやしてくれて、私はつかの間の休息をエンジョイした。

Kaori, Azusa and I met up at Turks Head for a coffee. It's been terribly cold since yesterday. I put a winter jacket on Arata and walked there carrying him in sling. We are already 'local' to the cafe and a friendly waitress came round to hold Arata for a while. I enjoyed a brief break from amusing Arata.

+14W 3D 一週間違いの弟? A week younger brother?

今日のベイビーマッサージで、アラタはやってくれた。マッサージ中2回もオシッコを飛ばしたのだ！マッサージ後はサンのお家のランチに招待された。彼女のご主人はフレンチカナディアンのダン。ここもやはり外国人同士のカップルだ。ロンドンには私達やあずささんの所みたいに外国人同士ってのが結構多い。サンの家族はカナリーワーフのテムズ川沿いの素敵なフラットに住んでいる。そしてテオくんは、アラタの一週間後に生まれ。彼のベッドのモーバイルを2人で興味深そうに眺めている。

At baby massage, Arata did it again! He peed twice!! After the massage, we went to Sun's beautiful flat on the river side in Canary Wharf. Her husband is French Canadian, Dan. There are so many none British couples in London like us. Sun's son is Theo, who is only a week younger than Arata. They laid on Theo's bed and watched a mobile moving, very enthusiastically.

+13W 6D ランチ Lunch

今日はあずささん宅にランチに招待された。あずささんとアメリちゃんとはしょっちゅう会っているが、彼女のドイツ人のご主人、クリストフとJasonは私達のおしゃべりに初参加。前日にボローバーケットで仕入れたばかりの魚をクリストフがさばいて振舞ってくれた。本当においしかった。暖かい午後のひと時を楽しく過ごした。

We went to Azusa's flat for lunch. It's the first appearance of Jason and Azusa's husband, Kristoff (?), to our chatting! They cooked gorgeous fish dish, which they bought from Borough market . We spent really good time on such a beautiful day.

+13W 5D フラットハンティング Flat hunting

先週はNew MaldenとKingstonがどんなところか見にいったが、今日はSt MargaretsとRichmondへ。St Margaretsでは3件の物件を見た。天気がよかったのでテムズ川沿いで日向ぼっこしている人が大勢いた。やっぱりRichmondはいい。アラタは毎週末、車の中でかわいそう。車内でおっぱいあげたり、おむつを替えたり。今日は、カーシートにつけたおもちゃで少し遊んだ。

We went to New Malden and Kingston to see the area. Today, we've been to Richmond and St Margarets. We saw 3 flats in St Margarets but I still prefer Richmond. The weather was nice and many people were sitting at the river side. It's a bit pity for Arata as he is in a car for long hours every weekend. I have to feed him in the car, Jason has to change his nappies in the car.... Arata was playing with a toy attached to the car seat for a while this afternoon.

+13W 4D 引越し Moving

引越しのことや仕事復帰のことを考えていたら不眠気味になり、挙句の果てにまた風邪を引いてしまい、しばらく疲れ果てていた。今日は散歩帰りのあずささんとアメリちゃんがお茶にうちに寄ったので、少し気がまぎれた。天気がいいから午後は散歩に行くか。

Thinking about moving flat or going back to work distract my sleep and I haven't slept well in the last week. In addition, I've caught a cold again..... Azusa and Ameri dropped in for tea this morning. I feel much better after talking to Azusa. Well, we should go for a walk this afternoon since the weather is nice.
