18W3D 羊水検査 Amniocentesis

羊水検査をした。Jasonも会社を休んでStPeter'sHospitalに一緒に行ってくれた。まず、ウルトラサウンドで赤ちゃんの状態をチェック。赤ちゃんに刺さらないように、スクリーンを見ながら針をさし、もう一人の技師が黄色い羊水を吸い取る。全部で30分もかからない手順だった。

18週を過ぎていたので、「16週ぐらいでやる人が多いのに、遅かったね」と言われたが、遅いほど流産のリスクが減るからとは言わず、黙っていた。案の定「少し遅めなので、通常は1/150ぐらいだけど、1/200ぐらいのリスクでしょう」と言われた。実はそれを狙って遅くにしたんだけどね。ダウン症など数種類の検査結果は3日ぐらいで、その他は２週間ぐらいで出るらしい。

ウルトラサウンドをしながら「性別知りたいって言ったよね」と言われた。スクリーンを覗き込みながら、私でもわかった。両足の間を下から見ている角度。付いている。また男の子だ。Jasonは男兄弟しかいなくて妹がほしいとずっと思っていたから、アラタの時も女の子がいいなあって言っていたし、ちょっとがっかり。じゃあもう一人産むよと言うと、「妊娠中のきみのムードスゥイングに対処するのは大変だからいいよ」だってさ。

1Y3M 風邪が長引くと… Having repeated colds so long...

アラタも私もニュージーランドから帰ってきて以来風邪を引き続けて３ヶ月。アラタの咳や鼻たれには慣れっこになってしまって、あてにならないGPに連れて行く気も起きなかった。ところが、数日前から咳がひどくなり、夜中に泣きながら起きては寝付かない。おかしいなあと思っていたら、右耳に耳垂れを発見。

GPに電話で予約を入れる。当日緊急で診てもらうためには医者の選択もできない（と思っている）ので、例のヤブ女医だったら時間の無駄だ、いやだなあと、なかなか電話する気になれない。医療のことになると、これが日本だったらと、憂鬱になる瞬間。今回はとにかく連れて行ってよかった。普通の呼吸では聞こえないが、聴診器を当てると、ぜーぜーいっているらしく、喘息様気管支炎と（耳垂れで鼓膜に穴が開いた）急性中耳炎と診断され、抗生物質のシロップと点耳薬を処方される。

喘息様気管支炎（90%は風邪などのウイルス性、まれに肺炎球菌やインフエンザ菌など細菌性）は、喘息（主にアレルギーが原因）ではない。乳幼児は気管支が細く、そこに痰が溜まるとより狭くなってぜーぜーとなるらしい。

急性中耳炎は、風邪が長引いて起きる二次感染（肺炎球菌、インフエンザ菌などの細菌性でウイルス性はまれ）。プラス耳垂れの圧力で鼓膜に穴が開いた症状で、膿が出るため不快感は軽減するが、治療をきちんとしないと、膿が中耳に溜まった状態の滲出性中耳炎に発展することがあるそうだ。こちらは難聴の原因にもなり、特に小さいうちになると、言語の習得が遅れたりするので要注意らしい。

どちらも、風邪を繰り返すこと、特に保育園に小さいうちから行っている子供がなりやすい（風邪の治りかけにまた風邪をもらうことがしょっちゅうだから）っていうのはかわいそうだけど納得…。

Arata and I have had colds since we came back from New Zealand, for more than 3 months. I'm so used to Arata's runny nose and coughing and I didn't bother to take him to 'unreliable' GPs. But when I saw Arata has runny pus from his right ear this morning, I rang the GP.

I don't like ringing GP, especially for emergency, because they will appoint any doctor. I have a couple of doctors I want to avoid and it's always very depressing to find out who I am going to see. Anyway, there was no choice today. Arata was diagnosed with 'Wheezy bronchitis' and 'Glue ear & perforation of eardrum (OTITIS MEDIA)'. The doctor prescribed antibiotic syrup (100Ml Amoxicillin) and ear drops (Gentisone HC Ear Drops).

Wheezy bronchitis is mainly caused by a virus. And Otitis Media is usually caused by bacterial infection. In Arata's case, the pressure caused by pus in the middle ear punctured the eardrum. Children who repeat colds or attend a day care tend to have both conditions, unfortunately...

1Y3M 初ヘアカット First haircut

スローンスクエアのTrottersで初ヘアカット。本当は次の一時帰国時に日本の子供向けヘアサロンでスポーツカーの形をした椅子に座らせて初ヘアカットをさせたかったけど （
こんな感じ
）、あまりにも髪が長くなって、大抵女の子と間違えられるため切ることにした。ネットでサーチするとハロッズに子供向けヘアサロンがあるという。初めての記念にハロッズか！と色めき立った?が35ポンドに諦めて、12.50ポンド（3歳以下）でやってくれるTrottersに予約を入れた。

Trotters
は子供服&雑貨屋さん。一角に子供用3席程のヘアサロンがあり、大きい水槽には魚がたくさん泳いでいる。かわいいケープをかけて、小さいおもちゃを渡される。「ああ、とうとうこのトレードマークの『縦巻き毛』が切られてしまうのね」と、少し悲しい。アラタは初めは何が起きているかわからなかった様子。でも、途中からやはりぐずり出した。そんな子供は、水槽の方に向けて気を紛らわす作戦らしく、アラタも魚が目に入るとすっかり元気に。たった10分ちょっとのサービスだが、隣にいた男の子もアラタと同月齢で、やはりファーストカットだと言っていたから、記念に連れて来る親も多いのかな。アラタの巻き毛をひとつ貼り付けたファーストカット証明書と、追加で巻き毛２つをおみやげにもらった。

Jasonは自宅で仕事のため不参加。川野と一緒に、その後カフェでランチ＆ウインドウショッピング。天気がものすごくよく、気温は16度まで上がった。スローンスクエアは活気があるし、カフェも何軒かあってブラブラするには最高。アラタもその雰囲気に興奮して昼寝をしてくれなかったのは計算外。落ち着いてコーヒーブレイクすることができなかったわ・・・。（写真はヘアサロンの様子と、直前のアラタの縦巻き、カット後少年っぽくなったアラタ。）

Arata had his first haircut at Trotters in Slone Square. I'd been wanting him to have his "first" haircut when we are back in Japan next time, at a hair dresser where he can sit in a car-shaped chair (

. But every stranger thought he was a girl because he had long hair. So we decided not to wait so long. When I checked on the internet about children's hairdressers, I found one in Harrods. I first thought, "Wow, it will be nice to take Arata there for his first cut," but the price (35 pounds) put me off... Jason then found Trotters, who charges 12.50 pounds (under 3 years old).

Trotters
is a childrenwear and accessories shop. They have a small hair salon in a corner, with 3 chairs and a big aquarium. When Arata sat in a chair, he was put on a cute blue cape and given a small toy to get ready. "Oh, dear, his cute curls will be gone in a minute." I felt a bit sentimental.... For Arata, he couldn't take in what was happening in the first few minutes. But towards the end, he started to grizzle, as I expected. The hairdresser turned him towards the aquarium. This must be a strategy to the crying children. Arata immediately started to concentrate on fish! It was only about 10 minutes services but the boy sitting next to Arata was also 15 months old and for his first haircut and I assume lots of parents bring their children for an occasion. The hairdresser gave us a 'First Haircut' certificate with Arata's curls stick on it. (And 2 extra sets of curls!).

Jason was busy working at home today and I asked Kawano to join us. After the haircut, we had a lunch at a cafe and did very long window shopping. The temperature rose upto 16C in London and it was really nice day. Slone Square is very lively and there are nice cafes to wind down. It's one of the best places in London to wonder around. Arata must have felt the same way. He didn't have a nap at all. He looked enjoying looking at people and shops. Because of that, we couldn't have time to sit down quietly to have a coffee, as we planned! The photos are: at hairdresser, Arata's 'vertical curls' before his haircut and new looking Arata.)

1Y3M マンミィ～ Mummmiiiieee!

ここ数日アラタの様子が変。ママにべったりなのだ。そして、お風呂に入るのを嫌がるようになった。それでも入れると、ずっと「マンミィ～～～～」と泣き続けて大変。私が様子を見に行くと、おお泣きしながら両手を挙げて抱っこしてくれとせがむから、びしょびしょになりながら抱っこすると、ものすごい力でしがみついてくる。

夜中も「No, No, No, No....」と叫びながら目を覚ましては、なかなか寝付かない。私がしばらくあやして、どうにか落ち着くが、Jasonでは全然だめだ。Jasonは「ダディのこと嫌いになった」と悲しそうにしているし、いったいどうしたのだろう。ナーサリーでいやなことがあったのかなあ。写真は掃除機をかけている（？）アラタ。

Arata has been behaving strangely. He's been so clingy to mummy. And he doesn't want to have a bath. When we manage to put him in the bathtub, with Jason, he keeps crying for mummy. If I go to have a look at the bathroom, Arata finds me and tries to climb out of the tub to be held. Well, I have no choice but pick him up and hold him for a while. Of course, my clothes get very wet.... as Arata is holding on me so strong.

During night, he often wakes up crying, "No, no, no, no...." It's so difficult to put him back to sleep again. It takes long time for him to settle back. And daddy doesn't work. I have to hold him for a while. Jason has started to say, "Arata doesn't like me any more..." What shall I do? Probably something stressful has happened at nursery??

ビルギットが遊びに来た。私はなんだかものすごい疲労で、寝転がったりしてて悪かったかしら。アラタはしばらく警戒して、彼女をジーっと観察。ところが木製の素敵なおもちゃをもらったとたんに、すっかりなついていた。現金なやつだ。

この時期に彼女が遊びに来た。今度は私たちがドイツに遊びに行こうと思う。

Birgit came to visit us. I was so tired and lying down on the floor chatting. (Sorry, Birgit.) Arata was staring at her for a long time to study if she is safe. :-) But when Birgit gave him nice wooden toy from Germany, he started to be very friendly. Birgit came to see us this time

16W3D 産婦人科検診

産婦人科検診のためStPeter'sへ。英国で15年ぶりぐらいにひとり（プラスアラタ）で運転したので昨日の夜からどきどきした。血尿はなかったが、インフェクションの可能性があると言われた。血圧、赤ちゃんの心音は正常。計画帝王切開にするかどうかは今は決めなくていいとのこと。まあ、NHSにしてみれば、自然分娩してくれた方がコスト的によいだろうが、日本のサイト見ると、２回目は計画帝王切開がいいと書いてあるところが多い。私としては赤ちゃんに一番安全な方法をとりたい。次回は24週で検診。

1Y3M イースター Easter

イースターフライデーで今日から４連休。Jasonがホットクロスバンを作ったので、今朝はホットクロスバンの歌を流しながらみんなで朝食。午後はりつこ＆よう宅にお邪魔した。ハナちゃん、この前あった時は赤ちゃんだったけど、すっかり女の子になっていた。ポピーちゃんの時もそう思ったけど、女の赤ちゃんは、アラタに触ったりと興味を示す。社交的な要素で、すでに性差が現れているのかなあといつも思ってしまう。普段男の子ばかりと遊んでいるから、その違いが如実だ。男の子同士は、まず、触らない。すぐにそこにあるおもちゃに集中するのだ。

Easter holiday has begun. Jason baked hot cross buns and we had breakfast all together, listening to the nursery rhyme, 'Hot cross buns'. In the afternoon, we visited Ritsuko & Yo family. Hanna was only 2 months old last time we saw her but she is now 9 months. I always feel baby girls are more sociable. Like Poppy, Hanna touched Arata when we put sit side by side for the first time. (Arata didn't care much as usual.) Arata is often with boys only and they don't show this behaviour. Their interests are only the toys in the room. So girls are already showing their advanced socialising skills?

1Y3M 運転 Driving

イギリスで15年ぶりに一人で（アラタを乗せて）運転。St Peter's Hospitalまで行った。シンガポールへ引っ越して以来カナダでもここでも全く運転していなかったので、去年１０月に日本で少し近所を運転してみたものの、イギリスでやる気は全く無かったのだけど、Wokingは車がないとあまりにも不便だから、数回同じルートをJasonが一緒の時に練習した。タクシーだと往復15ポンドはかかるから、少しは節約になるかな。

今日はその後、ターニャのところでアラタを少し遊ばせてゆうこさんに会いに行った。ターニャのところは、エリザベス、アナベラと珍しく女の子だけに囲まれたアラタは、なかなか慣れずにママにくっついていた。

I drove to St Peter's Hospital "on my own"! It's been 15 years since I drove a car in England. Since I moved to Singapore, even in Canada and here for nearly 10 years, I've never driven a car. And this long gap has put me off from driving a car. I'd driven the same route when Jason was with me for a couple of times as a practice, and I made it!!! It costs at least 15 pounds return to the hospital by cab so I will be able to save a bit of money in the future?

We then went to Tanya's. Arata was surrounded by only girls, Liz and Annabella, for a change and he was quite clingy most of the time. Scared of girls? We went to Yuko's later. It was quite a busy day.

16W0D 第一回助産婦検診

１６週の助産婦検診。初産でないと、次の検診は２８週だから、かなり放って置かれる様子。血圧異常なし。赤ちゃんの心音正常。検尿は、インフェクションの疑いで、さらに詳しいチェックをするためにサンプルを病院に送ると言われた。いつものことだ。前回の採血検査に不備がありまた今日も採った。その上、前回の結果、貧血気味と診断され、鉄分の錠剤を処方するかしないか、また今日の結果を見て決めるようだ。

1Y3M アイリッシュダンス Irish dance?

先週から踊りだした。ナーサリーで習ったら様子だけど、立ち止まって小刻みに足踏みするので、アイリッシュダンスみたいでおかしい。それもこっちをじっと見ながら嬉しそうな顔をして。あまりにも私たちに受けるからなのか、昨日はロンドンに行く電車の中で隣に座っているお姉さんにも披露していた。リージェンツパークに桜を見に行ったけど、とにかく寒くてまた風邪をぶり返したみたい・・・。

Arata has started to dance. It's like Irish dance and so funny to watch. He looks so happy when he is dancing and, apparently, he knows we enjoy it. So Arata even did the dance in front of a young lady on the train from London today! Attention seeker? Entertainer? We went to the Regent's park to see cherry blossoms but it was freezing.

1Y3M ハーネス Harness & rein

食事をかなり一人でできるようになったので、最近は大抵放っておくことにしている。私達が食べさせようとすると「自分で食べる！」と言わんばかりに機嫌を悪くして、スプーンを投げたりするから大変だ。まあ、ハイチェアの周りは相変わらずぐちゃぐちゃになるが、食べ物がこぼれたりすると「ティッシュ！」と言うので、一枚渡すと意外ときれいに拭く。関心、関心。その延長か、今日はダディが拭き掃除をしていたら、アラタも手伝っていた。ママが怠惰なだけに、いい子に育ってる！？

ランチにいいカフェがないか、私の運転の練習もかねて探していたら、いつの間にかファーンボロまで行ってしまった。ああ、怖かった。ラウンドアバウトは相変わらずひやひやなんだもの。ファーンボロのショッピングセンターを目ざとく見つけ、「行こうよ～」と私。買い物をしていると、なーんとジョウズィ一家にばったり。普段行かないファーンボロで彼女に会うなんて、すごい偶然。JeffとJasonは初対面。カフェでちょっとおしゃべりした。

ショッピングセンターでは、としさんから譲り受けていたハーネスを初めてアラタにつけてみた。10年以上前ブリストルで、ハーネスに引っ張られながら歩いている子供を初めて見た時は、本当にびっくりした。あれじゃあ、犬だ、ひどい、日本だったら幼児虐待だなんて思ったが、実は便利。これがないとアラタは明後日の方向へ歩いて行ったっきり帰ってこない。（２枚目はJasonがハーネスの紐を持って歩いている写真。）

We leave Arata to eat by himself most of the time now. He makes really a mess but he doesn't like us to feed him any more. When we do, he often gets annoyed and throws away the spoon! Well, a good thing is Arata can now say, 'Tissue' and when he gets a piece, he can clean the table quite well. He was even helping Jason to clean the flat today. Arata must know his mummy is too lazy and he has to do it by now?

We were looking for a nice cafe for lunch and ended up in Farnborough. I was actually driving, as I need to practice, but it was still not comfortable for me. I still don't get used to roundabouts... When we were shopping in a shopping centre in Farnborough, we ran into Josie, Luke and Jeff! We don't usually go there, I was in Farnborough for the first time, and we met them. It's a really surprise! We went to a cafe for a coffee. At last, Jason met Jeff.

We tried a harness & rein, the hand-me-down from Toshi, on Arata. Well, when I first saw a toddler tied to a walking rein, more than 10 years ago in Bristol, I felt so sorry for the child. I even thought how mean the mother was, it could be a child abuse in Japan!!　In fact, it is quite handy. Without it, Arata will walk to anywhere he wants and we must keep chasing after him.... 1Y3M ウインザー城 Windsor Castle

昨日、私はますみちゃんとSouthamptonの少し先、BrockenhurstのSENSPAでSpa Day！丸一日の滞在で、マインド＆ボディクラスから始まり、ボディマッサージ、フェイシャル、スパやリラクゼーションルームでリラックス。タイ料理のランチがついていて、本当にのんびり。おかげで昨晩は爆睡。気分転換にたまにはこういう贅沢が必要だわ。

暖かくなってきて、私たちの体調もよくなってきたので外出気分。今日はお昼に車で30分ちょっとのウインザーへ行った。ランチを食べて、350年もので建物が傾いているティーハウス、Crooked Houseでクリームティー。テムズ川沿いを散歩すると、かもや白鳥が岸にたくさん寄ってくる。アラタは指差しながら「おっ、ダッ（ダック）。」

川沿いに小さいファンフェアーがあったので、乗り物のメリーゴーランドに乗せてみた。（50ペンス＝100円なのでびっくり。）止まっている乗り物に座らせたことはあったけど、動いているところに乗ったのは初めてだったので、喜んで一生懸命ハンドルを切っていた。その後は、公園の中を嬉しそうに、とことことどこまでも歩き続けた。久しぶりにたくさん写真を撮ったのでたくさんUp。

Yesterday, I went to a Spa Day at SENSPA, in Brockenhurst, near Southampton, with Masumi. We stayed the whole day and had a Mind & Body class, body massage and facial. We had a Thai 2 course lunch and relaxed at the spa & a nice relaxation room as well. We really wound down. Sometimes, I need this sort of break....

It's getting warmer and we feel like going out. We went to Windsor for lunch today. It's just over a half an hour drive. After lunch, we went to a 350 year old tea room, Crooked House, which is not standing straight, and had my favourite - cream tea! We then walked along the river Thames. Lots of swans and ducks were at the bank and Arata was saying, "Oh, Du!" (= Duck)

We found a small fun fair and Arata rode the merry-go-round with different sorts of cars. He had been on similar toy cars before but only when they were not moving. This was his first time to be on a moving ride. (It was only 50P per ride.) Arata was steering the wheel very well. After that, we walked in a park. Arata didn't stop but kept walking for such a long distance... I took lots of photos for a change and have decided to upload a lot!

1Y3M プレイエリアつきカフェがほしい Want to have a cafe with play area...

ベラ達とデベナムスのカフェで久しぶりに会う。Cafe Contenantal のコーヒーモーニングが無くなって久しく、アラタの周りでたった二人の女の子、アナベラやエリザベスに会うのは久しぶり。コーヒーモーニングの頃は、みんなまだ赤ちゃんだったのに、１歳前後になった子供たちは、アラタを筆頭に、歩いたり、はいはいしたりして、どこかへ行ってしまうので、私たちがカフェの中で落ち着いておしゃべりなんて全く不可能になった。ニュージーランドにあったような、プレイエリアがあるカフェがあったらどんなに重宝するかと思ってしまう。

子供たちは大騒ぎ。上の写真、アナベラがトーマにキスをした～と思った瞬間。ところがトーマは大泣き。実は噛まれていた～。アラタは、どこからか持ってきたWet Floorの看板を手にポーズ。

We had a gathering at the cafe in Debenhams. We haven't seen Vera or Tanya as often as before since the coffee morning at Cafe Continental stopped and it's been long since we saw Arata's only girl friends, Annabella and Elizabeth. When we had been gathering at Cafe Continental, our children were all babies. But now, they are around 1 year old and either walking or crawling and we can no longer sit peacefully and have a chat over coffee. We have to chase and grab our kids every single minute before they disappear somewhere we can't see! I wish we had a cafe with a play area, like the ones in New Zealand.

In the left top photo, Annabella looks like kissing Thoma. Wow! But in the next moment, Thoma started to cry. In fact, she bit him!!! Arata looks very proud holding a 'Wet Floor' sign, he brought from somewhere.
