タカラのベイビーマッサージクラスが始まった。アラタの時は、マッサージだ、ヨガだといろいろ連れて行ったのだが、お兄ちゃんがいるとなかなかタカラとだけの時間がない。だから貴重な時間。ちょうどアラタがナーサリーに行く火曜日のクラス。いろいろ探したが、今のところWokingでベイビーマッサージはここだけではないかしら。
毎回少しずつマッサージを習う。マッサージについてのちょっとした講義、お茶とビスケットの時間も入れて1時間ほど。Wappingに住んでいた時は、ミッドワイフ主催のクラスが毎週無料であったが、Wokingエリアはそこまでカウンシルのサービスが充実していない。このコースもから、5回のコースで35ポンド也。もう少しマッサージの時間が長いといいなあと思った。
今回の参加者は私達を含めて5組のママと赤ちゃん。女の子2人に男の子3人なのだが、なーんと、男の子は全員「オリバー」くん。（タカラのファーストネームはオリバー。）そういえば、以前ヘルスビジターも「オリバーっていう名前の人気が復活してきたみたいよ」と言っていた。彼女が知っているオリバーが全員ベイビーマッサージに来ていた？そんなはずはあるまい。タカラは普段「オリバー」で通しているのだけれども、ありふれているのはやっぱりいやだなあ。今後は通称タカラにしちゃおうか。

I took Takara to a baby massage class at Goldsworth Park. When Arata was smaller, I took him to a lot of classes, like baby massage, baby yoga.... But with an elder brother, Takara tends to be forgotten and this is very important time with Takara for me. I've looked around but probably this is the only baby massage in Woking. And luckily, the classes are on Tuesdays, when Arata is at nursery.
Every week, we learn bits of massage techniques. Including small talks about baby massage and tea + biscuits time, it's about an hour. When I was in Wapping, there was midwives run baby massage classes every week for free of charge. But in this council, they don't provide us with many free services. This is a private run class and costs 35 pounds for 5 Tuesdays. I thought it would be better if the time we spend on massage is slightly longer.
There were 5 mums and babies including us. 2 baby girls and 3 boys. And quite surprisingly, all boys are called 'Oliver'! (We normally use 'Oliver' and not 'Takara'.) I can remember a health visitor said, "Oliver is getting popular again" when she first learnt Takara's first name. It must be really true. I preferred to give him a Japanese name but it had been the promise when Arata was born, we would give our second child an English name. I now feel I should have insisted stronger because it would be better to have a unique name. Shall we start to use 'Takara' more often?
