12カートンのジュースが３X4で床に並べてあった。

幼稚園から帰ってきたタカラは、「１，２，３，４，５，６だから、6＋６で１２！」と言った。しばらくして帰ってきたアラタもやっぱり数えようとして、「1，２，３，４，５，６，７・・・」と言ってると、タカラが「６＋６で12だよ」と口出し。

アラタ、タカラに一本取られたが、普段はアラタの方がやはり計算は速い。でも、タカラはよくアラタに教えてもらっているから意外にできる。元々は、アラタがやぶから棒に「ママ、８＋３は何～？」みたいな質問をよくしていて、それをタカラもかなり前からマネをしていた。

全く体系だって学んではいないわけだが、そんな感じで覚えるから、アラタカラは掛け算がいくつかできたり、マイナス計算ができたりするから面白い。やっぱりソロバンを習わせたいわ。

There are 12 cartons of juice on the floor. When Takara saw them, he counted, "i, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.... and 6 + 6 = 12, 12 cartons!"

When Arata came home later, he also started to count, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7..." then Takara interrupted and said, "because 6 + 6 = 12, they are 12!"

Well done, Takara. But usually Arata is much quicker in calculation, of course. Takara often learns from Arata and I'm often surprised to see how well Takara can work out with numbers. Arata started ask us questions like, "What's 8 + 3, mummy?" while ago. And Takara started to copy Arata soon after.

They never learnt properly but they know different things here and there, like some lines of multiplication table or additions of negative numbers. I really want to find abacus class for them!
