20/08/04 - 29/08/04 Day 8
Summer holiday in Finland 20/08/04 -
29/08/04 Day 8
As we had ferry tickets back to Finland in the afternoon, we walked around in the old town after check-out. The weather was really good, a bit too hot. We had nice dessert pancake at a cafe in the central square of the old town.
Estonia joined EU in June this year but the country still seems to be 'on its way'. Internet access or the number of mobile phones are said to be much in advance compared to the other EU countries, as the government really emphasises on the technology. However, we saw a couple of beggars, who were in their retired age, when we were sitting in a cafe. I felt a bit sad......
After arriving back to Helsinki, we headed for historical town, Turku, which is on the West coast of Finland. It took about 2 hours on the intercity from Helsinki. We found a hotel, Ramada, on the internet while we were still in Helsinki; we found a coffee bar which provides 15 minutes free internet access. After arriving at the hotel, we went to sauna, then had a romantic dinner at a boat restaurant alongside the river.
