SCIPSの一＆二年生クロスカントリーがボタニカルガーデンであった。

入学前からアラタに、「SCIPSへ行くと、メダルもらえるよ、オリなら勝てるよ」と言われていたので、タカラ、一週間ぐらい前から「一番になる」「メダルをもらいたい」と言っていた。

結果は一年生男子で堂々の二位。さすがおじいちゃんの遺伝子。がんばりました。でも一番じゃないのがご不満の様子。

先生方はレース前も後も、「最後まで走ることが大切」と強調していたけれども、勝った子供にもメダルをあげて褒めることも忘れない。日本だったら、今時は、平等を強調し過ぎて、勝ち負けを決めないことも多いらしい。

シルバーメダル、こんなに特別だったんだ。

Even before Takara joined SCIPS, Arata often said to him, "You can get a medal at competitions when you win, and I'm sure you will get one, Oli." So Takara has taken his first ever opportunity very seriously, and has said, "I want to win, I want to get a medal."

He came to the second in Year 1 boys group. Well done. He's got my father's gene. However, Takara seemed to be a bit unhappy as he didn't get the gold.

Teachers insisted that the results are not important, completing the race is very important. Yet, they still didn't forget to praise the children who achieved good results by presenting them with medals. I've heard some schools in Japan don't even decide who comes first in order to avoid making the weak children feel bad.... I think it's a bit too much.

Anyway, the silver medal is so special!
