Floating candles

Arata

We went to Floating candles to remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It's organised by Woking Action for Peace/CND (Campaign for nuclear disarmament), and has been running for 15 years at New Inn in Send, near Old Woking. We float candles in half-grapefruit skins on the canal. Floating lights were so beautiful. We went there with Yuko's family. As she is from Hiroshima herself, it was quite sensational when they found she was from there! It's also the first time for them that any Japanese, 4 of us including Arata and Thoma, joined the event.
