Driving in Penang

I've been renting a car since Tuesday. Drivers or bikers here don't seem to obey the traffic rules. Especially bikes. There are so many of them and they are coming from everywhere. They ride as if they were riding a bicycle. They sometimes come from opposite direction or go through red light....

And I believe drivers also drive as if they were driving a bike. Even if it is just a single lane, if there is enough width, they make it double or triple lanes! The most problem is when we try to turn right or change the lane. Nobody lets us in. When we turn right, for example, we have to move forward to the centre line when no cars are coming from the right, then wait till left lane also becomes free, in the middle of the road. Very scary!
